Visiting the Equator - Mitad del Mundo

When I get a second I continue to sort through our Ecuador images. Our last weekend in Ecuador we went to Quito and visited the equator! It was a fun experience, except that we weren't prepared with hats and sunscreen. OHHHH we paid dearly for that mistake!

There is a big monument on the equator, and a red line painted on the street that shows you exactly where it is. Here Anna and Chase are demonstrating how to look like tourists while checking out the monument.
Evie and I thought we made a good tourist picture ourselves, so we joined them!

There is a "museum" on the equator as well, and they do all kinds of fun experiments like showing you how water swirls clockwise on one side of the red line, and counter-clockwise on the other! Here Chase and Anna are in the Northern Hemisphere, and Evie and I are in the Southern Hemisphere. Cool, huh?
There were also samples of houses that folks from the jungle build and live in.
